what is Synopsis

Synopsis

DEFINITION

A research synopsis is a short outline of what the researcher will research,

This is an all the steps the researcher should propose to follow to achieve them. It gives the researcher and the researcher supervisor a clear view of what the research aims at achieving and within what time frame. The research synopsis also helps the researcher stay focused and makes the research work generally less tedious. This explains why the researcher's synopsis should be approached with clarity.

The contents of the synopsis are:-

  • ·       Frontpage.
  • ·       Guides certificate
  • ·       Content page
  • ·       Introduction of the project work
  • ·       Title of project
  • ·       Objective of the project
  • ·       Research methodology
  • ·       References and bibliography.

To clarify your thoughts about the purpose of your research and how you plan to reach your research goals, you should prepare a synopsis.

A synopsis is a short, systematic outline of your proposed research, made in preparation for your research topic and clarification of your project structure. It serves to ensure that your supervisor gets a clear picture of your proposed project and allows him or her to spot whether there are gaps or things that you have not taken into account.

PURPOSE AND STRUCTURE

A synopsis is a tool for the writing process. It has three main objectives:

1) It helps verbalize the idea of the paper and at the same time makes it more visible. It is a tool for thinking the subject and argument of the paper through.

 2) It helps you to focus and structure the paper. A good synopsis can save you from reading source material that later turns out not to be of use to the paper. It also helps you to summarize the main points.

3) It serves the purpose of informing your supervisor about the project and thereby making more focused and in-depth supervision possible.
