so we are back with another interesting recipe ( matki chi usal ) matki is another kind of dal very famous in the Maharashtra region, most of the Maharashtrian family start their day by having this amazing dish is call matki chi usal, if you found sometimes chance to visit Maharashtra, you will find the usal in every corner of street food stall.
Matki chi usal is a quite simple and easy dish in each Marathi family. Numerous families I know set up this dish something like double consistently. Might be on the grounds that it's not difficult to get ready and tastes incredible.
it tastes super great with some sliced onion and lemon sprinkled water.
Ingredients;
1. Matki (Moath
Beans) 250Gm
2. Turmeric Powder (Haldi) 4 Gm
3. Salt To taste
4. Oil 30 Ml
5. Mustard Seeds (
Rai / Sarson) 5 Gm
6. Asafoetida (Hing) 3 Gm
7. Onions 150 Gm
8. Tomatoes 60 Gm
9. Chilli Powder 10 Gm
10. Goda
Masala Or Garam
Masala 3-4 Gm
11. Grated Coconut 15 Gm
12. Jaggery (Gur) 5 Gm
13. Crushed Peanuts 10 Gm For The Garnish
14. Chopped Coriander
(Dhania) 1 Sprig
15. Desiccated
Coconut 15 Gm
Pre- preparation:
1. to start with our dish we need to soak the matki overnight in water.
2. after our matki has been sprouted boil
them in a deep pan for about 4-5
minutes with 1/2 tsp of turmeric
powder and 1/2 tsp of salt. It
should be preboiled, after boiling keep them aside.
3, while our dal is boiling in the meantime cut some vegetables chop onions & tomatoes.
Preparation:
1. first we need to heat the pan with some oil or we can even use butter, then add the
mustard seeds, asafoetida, and
onions, mix all the ingredients well and cook till
the onions turn soft and translucent.
2. after our onion turns soft add the tomatoes, add a little amount of turmeric
powder, and chili powder, mix
well and cook for 2 minutes.
3. and then add the pre-boiled matki, salt, chana masala or garam masala, and coconut, mix them well and cook
for at least 5-7 minutes on a medium
flame, Add little by little water to prevent from burning.
4. after that add the jaggery and peanuts,
mix them well and cook further for at least 2
minutes.
Garnish whit chop green coriander
or desiccated coconut or slice onion on top.
